Metro Insurance Services, Inc. began as a retail agency in 1983 and transitioned to a wholesale broker in 1990. Experiencing seven years as a retail agent, we immediately understood how to best serve our new retail clients - namely, by providing the best service possible.
Metro has an underwriting philosophy of building relationships one risk at a time. While working in partnership, we don't just quote an account for our agents; rather we underwrite it along with them. This is what makes the difference when working with Metro. From the mundane to the unusual, large or small, Metro has the ability to meet your agency's needs.
Our team is comprised of knowledgeable and dedicated members with an average of ten years insurance experience with Metro. We foster an environment of both professional and personal growth, and encourage creative thought.
Steven R. Gross - Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Steven started in the retail agency business in 1983, representing both national and regional stock companies. In 1990, he sold the retail business to focus on existing relationships with retail agents and to offer them advice on how to handle and sell an account.
Barbara J. Gross - Chief Financial Officer Barbara brings over 20 years of accounting experience to Metro. A retired CPA, Barbara manages all aspects of the financial operations of the company. Having an experienced accountant on staff is extremely beneficial to the organization and to our clients.
Barbara holds a BS in Business from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Arthur Petzel - Vice President - PA Office Arthur joined Metro in 1999 establishing a unique property underwriting hub in Pennsylvania.
An underwriter with 25 years of insurance company experience, Art not only brought knowledge to the table, but also a loyal following of numerous wholesale agent relationships. Prior to joining Metro, Art worked for General Accident, Lexington, Penn-America, Reliance Re, Starr Associates and Reliance National.
Wholesalers come to us because we have the capacity they need. With binding authority on behalf of Lloyd's of London to write up to $20,500,000 in property limits, the results have been tremendous. Because of Art's experience as an underwriter, he works well with wholesalers who cannot write the limits they need in their own markets.
Art holds a BS in Financial Management from Clemson University.
